In 2014 the project projector was used to make 4D light show for the Shanghai Bund New Year’s Eve countdown, the audiences were so curious about the 4D lighting technology. It’s said that the projector can produce various pictures with different size, spherical or curved shapes as required without restrictions from the site drop shadow angle and projected media, it’s a better idea for making dazzling stage performance rather than to use LED display.

The disadvantage of the projector is low brightness, most of the stage lighting can offset the light and shadow effect from projector, thus the lighting engineers have to dim the lighting before applying the projector to make sure the clarity of the projected images.

Along with the development of technology, the projector brightness is getting more and more bight, Barco launched the HDQ-2D40 highlight project projector has 40000 lumens, 2K resolution is also higher than ordinary led display, close-up lens can be cut at any time without worrying about image appear grainy as the led display does.

However, now the following problems have to be solved to popular highlight project projector:

1. Professionals: highlight projectors needs professionals to control it so as to increase its ease of usage.

2.  Leasing business of inputs and outputs: the projector itself is expensive and the xenon lamp as the light source needs to be changed every 500hours, it’s price is hundreds of thousands yuan. One big digital stage design needs multiple projectors and the total cost is not dominant compared with LED display.

3. Transportation: the projector has very large cube and weight, it’s not as convenient as using a led display.

With the advent of highlight projector, led display industry already feel the risk from such a display technology, but there is no efficient solution to defense such a risk to the industry. But at least the projector has to overcome its limitation right now, if led display technology can have big improvement during the competition, it still can lead the market in future.
